ThermiSmooth is an in-office procedure which uses a specially designed thermistor-regulated hand piece. As the hand piece gently heats the skin’s surface using targeted dermal heating, it targets problem areas around the eyes, mouth, cheeks and neck. It is very effective for improving the appearance of aging skin through tightening and stimulating collagen production over a period of time. There is no anesthesia necessary and no injections are done.
How does ThermiSmooth work?
The ThermiSmooth hand piece delivers sustained radio frequency (RF) heat, above 40 degrees Celcius, to the skin. It is not a laser. The RF heat causes the collagen under the skin to shrink, thereby initiating a process where the skin begins to tighten and the effects of aging are reduced. The ThermiSmooth™ hand piece delivers this heat in a controlled manner to maximize patient comfort.
What areas can be treated with ThermiSmooth?
ThermiSmooth can treat many different areas of the face and is well suited for under the eyes, around the mouth, the forehead, eyelids, and neck.
How many ThermiSmooth treatments will I need?
We recommend a series of 3-6 treatments, spaced about 2 weeks apart to achieve your desired results.
What happens during a ThermiSmooth treatment?
A small amount of gel is first applied to the skin in the area to be treated. A specific target temperature is set and the hand piece is gently moved across a specific treatment area. The system will automatically adjust the temperature of the device based on feedback from the patient’s skin. A small area is treated for about 5-10 minutes. Then we go onto the next area to be treated.
How soon will I see results after a ThermiSmooth treatment?
While multiple treatments may be necessary, most patients will see some result after the first treatment with full results seen in about 3 to 6 months.
